Sakir Gokcebag turns toilet paper into art

It’s a beautiful thing when an artist can take the simplest of materials, and with a vision and a little blood, sweat and tears, turn it into something moving. Something to behold. Sakir Gokcebag has made a name for himself by doing just that. Taking everyday objects like tape measures, discarded umbrellas, clothes hangers, clocks and brooms, and turning them into striking installations and exhibits. In 2012 Sakir began an installation project, Trans-Layers, using only toilet rolls. Placed strategically across the walls of galleries and public spaces, Gokcebag uses both the cores of the rolls and the strands of soft paper to create beautifully striking pieces.
