Photographer and father of six Alain Laboile’s beautiful photos of his family and kids cannot help but conjure up fond memories of your own childhood. His eye for beautiful and vital compositions, along with his choice to shoot in black and white, give his photographs a timeless feel and make them seem as though they could have been a part of anyone’s childhood – as if they’re childhood or family universals.
Interestingly enough, Laboile says that he began as a sculptor, acquiring a camera only when he had to assemble a portfolio of his works. Photography seems to suit him well, however, as the wonder, mysticism and vital nature of his family photos seems to be a common element in most of his work, family-oriented or otherwise.
