The Ceramic French Bulldog in Love With a Cat by Angie Rehe [video]

In October of last year, artFido had the privilege of auctioning off 13 hand painted ceramic French Bulldogs for charity with 100% of proceeds going to Wear for Success, an organisation that provides clothing and training to disadvantaged people seeking employment (read about it HERE).

One of our favorite pups was a confused little fella called “The Outsider” created by Angie Rehe.  The Outsider is an existentialist French bulldog in love with a cat. As all cat-loving pooches do, Outtie put on a feline mask and tried to get near the kitty but she ran away and left him to wander the streets of Paris alone. Despite suffering from a broken heart, Outtie regrets nothing, proudly wearing his classic French tee, and even heading over to the local tattoo parlor for some ink-work (“love” and “No, I have no regrets”).

Want to see how Outtie was created?  Here it is, with Edith Piaf’s song “Non Je Ne Regrette Rien” playing in the background…

According to Angie Rehe, the other writing on Outtie’s rear are Angie’s favorite passages from the Albert Camus existentialist novel “The Outsider” (“L’Etranger”). They are written in the formation of the Paris street map, with Angie’s own silhouette (that was made by a Parisian street artist) marking the spot of the Arc De Triomphe. A thoroughly French and thoroughly tortured dog!
